DeepMilo & Arkay - Bruce Killer

Soulsupplement Records is happy to introduce two new artists’ to the team DeepMilo and Arkay. This powerful production team hails from the UK and are out of the gate straight away with their freshman Soulsupplement release “Bruce Killer”. “Bruce Killer” is a proper banger with just the right amount of funk and grime to make the Soulsupplement cut.

Up first is “Bruce Killer” (Original Mix) and its spot on for anytime of night and dance floors worldwide. The driving rhythm track coupled with a low down nasty bass line is just the ticket to get the crowds moving. A no nonsense build up paired with a grimy vocal makes this one ready to ride.

Their next cut is “ChicaChica” which has been getting a major rinsing from Jeff Barker on the FLH (For The Love of House) radio show. This cut has also been heard on some of the deepest dance floors in the UK. A nice 4 on the floor number that has just the right amount of funk and soul to get the House Head massive working their bodies.

The last entry is “Soul Explosion” a solo number from DeepMilo and it’s been getting play already in Las Vegas by Bruno Browning. A straight forward 4 on the floor house cut that’s oozing with flavor. Tight rhythm track and great keyboard lines will make this one work in any venue at any time of night.

Joshua Heath - Copacetic

After successful releases on major dance labels including Salted and Drop Music, Joshua Heath proudly presents the first release from his new label - Golden State Recordings. “Copacetic” is the inaugural release by the boss himself. Featuring all the elements fans love about Heath’s Chuggin’ sound, this production features a groovy live bass line, well placed synths, funky guitar riffs and a catchy vocal hook. The track also features the debut performance by LA lyricist, Louis Hale. With remixes by Jay-J & Neighbour, this package appeals to all dance music fans.

First up, Grammy® nominee Jay-J reworks the track in a minor mode with suspenseful changes in the Hammond b3 organ. With heavy drums, techy rhythmic elements and a deep, bouncing bass line, this remix sets the perfect dark & big room vibe. Rounding out the package is Canadian producer, Matt Dauncey’s (aka Neighbour) sexy, smooth and deep revision of Heath’s Original Mix. A funky rework of the bass line and intricate synth arrangement, coupled with a hint of grit, makes this mix a sure bet to heat up dance floors worldwide.

I haven’t heard much of Neighbour’s work lately. It’s great to know he’s still a ridiculously talented producer. Homerun again. Bassline and synths = BANANAS as always. Thank you for the music.
-Busy | RTHM

- P-Rez | Not So Fast

“Love love love it! Such a treat to be part of this package with superb mixes coming from all involved. Big ups to Louis Hale for a smart poem that’ll make sure the dance floor is “all in balance, finely focused”. Can’t wait for more from this fantastic new label”.
- Neighbour

Brilliant re-imaginings of the rhythms, definitely nice work. On the Original, love the added guitars, they really make it full, love the styles employed. On Jay-J’s, the deconstructed drums and the bass line keep it bouncing, definitely love the organ. I like how he treated the vocals, flattered that he gave them that much room in the breakdown. Really diggin’ the gate & effects on the hook, you sound mad cool in all cases Josh. I wasn’t too familiar with Neighbour’s work before this, I’ll be changing that quite quickly because of what I’m hearing! I really like the dropping rhythm and the atmospheric funk feel to it. It definitely rocs, jazzily of course! Love the elements from the Original he brought back, nice touch to round out the set. They really work well together. Phat!”

Man Ray - Summer 88

Man Ray Summer 88 EP
HAC 001

“A collaboration between Peter Hook and Phil Murphy to create acid house trax to evoke the style of the second summer of love with a modern twist.”

Hacienda Records is proud to make available its debut release, the “Summer 88 EP” by Man Ray which sees Joy Division and New Order’s Peter Hook and production partner Phil Murphy indulge their passions for subliminal and elemental acid house, paying homage to the sound of the early days of Acid but with bang up to date production technique.
Originally produced as the opening tracks to 2009’s “Hacienda Acid House Classics” album, both tracks have been extended and reworked from these versions for the new EP. Put together by Hooky and Phil to add character, personality and an imprint to the original album, the tracks convey the euphoria that both members of Man Ray felt during that epic time at the club and revisit the staple sounds of the period.
Using analogue technology to recreate precisely the sounds belting through the summer of ’88, a mixture of classic Roland synths and drum machines were employed to simulate the early acid house vibes with samples only being used for sound effects, making both tracks feel as naturally timeless as possible.
Opening track, “We’re On It” presents itself as a twisting, laid back groove, permeated with references to early Detroit and Chicago, Larry Heard, Mr Fingers and the classic exponents of the lighter side of acid. With Hooky chatting over the vocal version, recalling his memories spoken word style, the tracks bobs and weaves, breaks up and down with a pulsating bassline, elegant synths and a cooly defined grace.
Second track, “Ways Of Making Music” continues with Hooky’s voice over but mixing classic break beats, sirens and a dance floor shaking electro bass, displays a harsher, more abrasive acid style to “We’re On It”. Purely reminiscent of middle of dance floor Hacienda action from way back then, whistles, Todd Terry-esque keyboard stabs, and that sense of musical adventure that characterized the time convey the euphoric sense of freedom and passion of the acid house revolution at the Haç.
The establishment of Hacienda Records via the new website at fac51theHacienda.com allows for artists to be developed and future side projects to be released and distributed easily. Further Man Ray releases are to include “Tokyo Joe”, presently used as the theme tune to new Manchester live music venue, The Factory and also the soundtrack to an upcoming Hacienda DVD.

All tracks written and performed by Peter Hook and Phil Murphy
